Take Your Parents to Lunch Day is a national holiday that started out to give parents the opportunity to visit their child’s school and eat a meal with them. It allowed parents an excuse to see what their child liked or disliked about school lunches. It was exciting for children to have their parents visit for lunch and make something different of the day.

Who said traditions need to stop there? It’s a day that should continue for adults and their parents. Instead of a school lunch break, it is a work lunch break.

There are so many options for how to enjoy the day. Here are a few of our ideas:

  • Get take-out and set up a picnic at the park
  • Working from home? Get lunch delivered from a favorite restaurant.
  • Parents can’t get off of work? Go to them and choose a restaurant near their workplace.
  • Have the privilege of time? Parents and children alike can take the day off and just make lunch a part of a fun day.
  • Go restaurant hopping. Choose a different favorite for appetizers, entrees, dessert, etc.
  • Have a list of restaurants you’ve been wanting to try? Get one dish of take-out from each and enjoy the variety at home.

However you decide to spend the day, don’t forget to take your parents to lunch today and even better if you can support local restaurants while you’re at it!
